Project 10: Initial ideas

Project Ten

1. Neon
   atomic number of Neon is 10: ten as stable or as adapting the qualities of a neon light, for example. Or it could simply be about visualizing the behaviors of Neon…or the becoming of Neon (unstable to stable). 
   
2. Thin and fat full (formal qualities)
   side profiling: different angles of viewing an object. ie. 1 as a sideprofile of 0. Also has a before and after sense. Could have an element of surprise as one discovers that frontal/surface looks can be deceiving.

3. 10 syllables
   first ten syllables of a movie narration? or a children’s book (or books). You get that sense of beginning-end-beginning loop, which metaphorically points back to ten’s connotation of completing a cycle. (see idea: 10 as end of cycle). It could even be limiting yourself to saying only 10 syllables per sentence. 
4. Ten and emotion
   10th place - frustration in always finishing last. Or could this be positive i.e. making it to the top 10. This could be juxtaposed, exposing the 2 extremes of the emotional spectrum (sense of accomplishment vs disappointment)
   
5. What 10 is not
   Defining 10 by showing what it is not. 
   e.g. cat + 1 person = 10 lives.  $9.99
6. 1+2+3+4 ten as triangular; 1+3+6 ten as tetrahedral.
   Breaking apart and synthesizing. Coming up with as many different possibilities/combinations…
7. Things you can buy for $10.
   $10 each object, or $10 in total? Would you have change? Should the objects be thematic, or functional? Or can it be completely mundane? 
8. [10][10][10] scoring system. 
   Satire. Possible scenarios could be everything is being graded i.e. from sitting down, from drinking from a cup of coffee, etc. 
9. Decaplets.
   The components of 10 competing with each other. e.g. which one of the decaplets will stand out. This could be funny, could be metaphoric of YSDN (how do you stand out from a bunch of “potato chips in a bag”) but could also expose the absurdity of it all (maybe we don’t need to compete). All 10 are essentially the same, or are they? 
10. Ten stops. 
    A drift experience. After 10 stops at a bus or subway, you get off and have to transfer to a connecting route.  
11. Ten eyes.
    5 different people with 1 camera/each, same route. How different would the results be? (video experience? stills?) 
12. 10 minutes or 10 hours of doing nothing?
13. 10:00 am – late for class?
